Pedestrian Killed In Dekalb County

Friday night 51 year old Eric Darden was hit and killed while attempting to cross Glenwood Road in Dekalb County according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Dekalb Police spokesperson Jason Gagnon reported that according to the initial investigation Mr. Darden was wearing dark clothing and was attempting to cross the street and was not using a designated cross walk.

In Georgia pedestrian cases where no cross walk is used are extremely difficult cases, especially if dark clothing at night is worn.  The nature of driving 35 mph plus and someone jumping out in front of your vehicle in an area that is not marked with a cross walk, will make it very difficult to prove otherwise.

Due to the nature of the dark clothing and the crossing not being made at a designated cross walk, there are no current charges pending for the driver who struck Mr. Darden.
