Atlanta Workers’ Compensation Attorney – Am I Entitled to Select My Own Workers Compensation Doctor?
byTy WilsononJuly 13, 2010
Ammy entitledtochoosemyworkers compensation doctor? In Georgia you must first determine if there is a posted panel of physicians or a list of doctors.
Under Georgia workers compensation theemployer’srequiredtohave a postedpanelphysiciansor a list of doctors. Equally important they are required to explain how the posted panel of physicians is supposed to work if an employee is ever injured on the job.
Ifthe employer fails to do both then you just may be able to select the doctor you wish to treat with. Youshouldhavetherighttoselect thedoctoryouwishtogotoo.
However, itisimportantthatyoufirstdetermine if your employer has a posted panel, not all posted panels are actually posted and if your employer is what is called an MCO, the panel can be quite extensive making it impossible to post on a board.
A standard posted panel of physicians has six doctors and/or occupational clinics to choose to receive medical care treatment. There are many rules as to what makes a panel valid or invalid, but just because an employer has a panel of physicians does not necessarily make it valid.
If you have specific questions on a panel you should contact a Georgia workers compensation lawyer to discuss the details of your panel. Contact aGeorgiaWorkersCompensationLawyer at(866) 937-5454.
Mr. Wilson is truly a very good person who cares about people. I understand he selected this career but I do know he makes many sacrifices to help he’s clients. I am very grateful to have had him as my attorney and if I ever have to use one again (hopefully not) it will be Mr. Wilson.
He worked with me. He told me everything. He called me. He gave me all the information.
He will be my family lawyer from now until the end because I can trust him.
He's just a great guy.
He always calls you right back and even if it's on the weekend - he's going to call you back.
