As reported by the Atlanta Journal Constitution, a 13 year girl was hit by a driver as she allegedly “darted out” in front of traffic attempting to cross Georgia 61 better known as Villa Rica Highway.
Unfortunately, since she has been in a medically induced coma she is not able to tell her side of this story. We only hope the swelling on her brain will reduce so that she does not have so much pressure on her skull.
The Georgia State Patrol investigated the incident and shut down Georgia 61 while they completed their investigation.
According to their investigation the 13 year old was on her way to the Paulding County High School when this horrible collision occurred.
According to the father of the young girl there is no cross walk for students to cross in on their way to school and it is common for the children to wait until they see a break in traffic and then dart across the street.
According to Ty Tagami reporter for the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Harry Maddox of the Georgia Department of Transportation advises he will look in to this stretch of road for the possibility of adding a cross walk or what other recommendation may come available.
Our prayers go out this family as they certainly have many challenges a head for their daughter.
