One woman was killed instantly with a Monte Carlo allegedly failed to yield and turned into an ambulance in Henry County, Georgia last night. According to reports, the incident occurred on Highway 1941 in Hampton, Georgia.
The driver of the Monte Carlo is alleged to have failed to yield and turned in front of the ambulance who was not operating its emergency lights at the time of the collision. Georgia law reads:
§ 40-6-71. Vehicle Turning Left
The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left within an intersection or into an alley, private road, or driveway shall yield the right of way to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction which is within the intersection or so close thereto as to constitute an immediate hazard.
The investigation is still ongoing, certainly a determining factor will be the testimony of the any witnesses at the scene and the passengers of the ambulance depending upon their relationship to the ambulance driver.
