Under certain circumstances if your authorized treating physician (main comp doctor) has released you to light duty and the employer claims they have a job for you, you may be required to attempt the light duty job. This is an extremely technical and VERY fact specific area of workers’ compensation.
The employer has to file documents to return you to work, however if the employer does what they are required to do under the law, then you are expected to do the same. This is not a situation where you want to ignore the return to work request and documentation or you could have your weekly benefit checks suspended or ended.
As stated above, every claim is a little different, so you do want to know what can be done to protect you and your family’s interest.
Be informed. Be aware. Be prepared.
