If you have been ordered to undergo a functional capacity evaluation, it is likely that your doctor does not believe there is medically anything further he can do for you as far as care. However, he could be attempting to determine based upon the results if you could be surgical or if the injury is something you should live with.
The reality is the claim is likely coming to an end. The functional capacity evaluation will provide the doctor duties that you can perform and how often you can perform them. Rest assured you are likley going to be going back to light duty work very soon.
Just like any test there is a subjective part of the evaluation which makes the party performing the test very important. You want someone who will be fair and not the pocket of the insurance company due to the amount of FCEs they perform each year.
Be informed. Be aware. Be prepared.
