If you have been returned back to work light duty AND the employer states they have light duty work you must make an effort to attempt the light duty job. If the pain gets unbearable you must tell you supervisor and then go back to the doctor and let them know you were not able to complete the light duty work, the doctor will then likely adjust your work restrictions so that you are not in unbearable pain.
However if the employer keeps making light duty jobs available (some employers do), then you will have to continue attempting light duty work unless or until you are either taken out of work completely or returned to full duty work capacity when you get better.
