Effective July 1, 2013, the maximum weekly compensation rates increased from $500.00 per week to $525.00 per week. What this means is if you are injured after July 1, 2013 and your comp rate is more than $525.00 per week, you are capped at $525.00 per week.
So for example if you were earning $1,000.00 per week on average and you receive 67% or 2/3rds of your average weekly wage you would now receive $525.00 per week instead of $500.00 per week.
As many seriously injured workers know attempting to keep your bills paid and up to date can be difficult with this being the maximum temporary total disabilty rate if injured in the State of Georgia. The idea is that this is better than no income and the hope and goal is that the injury will not require long extended time receiving workers’ compensation benefits or payments.
