There are angels among us! I was recently touch by an article I read on WSB-TV.com, where a woman by the name of Stacey Halstead stepped up as a person to the family of Emily Bowman.
Emily Bowman is the 20 year old girl who was allegedly struck by drunk driver causing extensive injuries to her. Emily's road to recovery will be a long one, Emily is wheelchair bound and not able to communicate. The emotional strength her family will need to see them through this challenge will be tremendous. This is something that no one would want to go through or see anyone go through.
However, this is what the Bowman's have been handed due to this horrible occurrence. While we can not turn back the hands of time, we can offer support, that is where Ms. Halstead comes in. She too is no stranger to life changing injuries. Her son was struck in the head causing serious brain injury as a result of Hurricane Sandy.
Hats off to you Ms. Halstead, you could have remained in your comfort zone and not approached the Bowman family. However you did not, and what may seem like nothing to you moved me a father of two young children who hopes that should any disaster ever strike I have people like you that show up to remind me that we could all use an angel.
Tomorrow is certainly a gift to all of us. We must realize life is too short to be petty, we have no guarantees.
