According to an article in Savannahnow.com, a 5-year-old child that was attacked by a pit bull Tuesday remains in the hospital but is expected to survive.
The child, Wesley Frye, remains in a Savannah-area hospital where he underwent two surgeries after being admitted with injuries from the attack.
Per the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, Wesley sustained injuries to his face and leg after a pit bull attacked him while he was playing at a neighbor’s home in the Paddleford Subdivision.
One of the owners of the dog was able to get the dog out of the home during the attack.
The other owner was cited for failing to vaccinate the animal for rabies. The dog is being quarantined for 10 days at the County animal shelter. No criminal charges are expeced to be filed according to the Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
We certainly hope that young Wesley is able to make a full and quick recovery from his injuries.
