According to the Covington News, 40 elementary school students and two bus drivers were treated at area hospitals after a school bus crash on Tuesday.
The crash involved two buses on Georgia Highway 162 near Rocky Plains Elementary School at approximately 2:30 p.m. when a school bus was stopped to unload near Oaks Landing Drive and was struck in the back by another bus according to the Georgia State Patrol’s report referenced in the Covington News article.
Spokespersons from the hospitals where the injured were treated as well as law enforcement reported that all injuries were believed to be minor.
Inspections of the buses will be conducted by the Motor Carrier Compliance Division of the state’s public safety division in an effort to find a cause for the incident per the GSP.
