According to an article on ajc.com and the Georgia State Patrol, two women died in a Douglas County wreck Wedensday on Thornton Road in Douglasville.
The women, Michelle Kamika Chinnis, 35, of Smyrna, and Tracy P. Downer, 44, were killed in the wreck. Chinnis died after she was extricated from the Nissan Sentra she was driving. Downer was the passenger in that vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck driver was not injured in the wreck. According to the article, the truck was travelling north on Thornton Road when it hit the driver’s side of the Nissan, causing both vehicles to cross into the southbound lanes of Thornton Road. It was at this time that the Nissan hit two other vehicles. The occupants of these vehicles were transported to Grady. According to the article, all were listed in stable condition.
According to Channel 2 Action News, witnesses reported that the truck ran a red light.
The Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is conducting an investigation of the wreck.
