As reported by ajc.com, Mookie Blaylock will face additional charges after Jonesboro Police Chief Franklin Allen discussed the case with Clayton County District Attorney Tracie Graham Lawson. The additional charges brought against Mookie Blaylock are second degree vehicular homicide a misdemenor. Prior charges included making an improper lane change, crossing the median, driving on a suspended license and driving on the wrongside of the roadway.
Blaylock remains in serious condition in the hospital. District attorney and Jonesboro police are awaiting the blood test results to determine if drugs are alcohol were responsible for this crash that took the life of Monica Murphy, a mother of five children.
According to the Jonesboro Chief of police Franklin Allen, on Friday, May 31, 2013, Mookie Blaylock was traveling northbound on Tara Boulevard in Clayton County when he drove over the median into on-coming driving striking a van. The van had two people a Mr. Frankie Murphy who was operating the van and his wife Monica Murphy who was a passenger.
Mrs. Monica Murphy lost her life as a result of the head-on collision. Mr. Frankie Murphy sustained a broken ankle.
Upon results of the blook test Mookie Blaylock could be looking at additional charges.
