An early-Saturday morning wreck on I-95 has taken the life of Janet Bean, 67 years old from Pooler.
The person charged in her death is Benjamin Lee Booth II, 28-years-old, from SC according to an article in Savannahnow.com. Charges against him include homicide by vehicle in the first degree, DUI, driving with an unlawful blood-alcohol level, following too closely, and improper lane usage.
According to Pooler Fire Chief Wade Simmons, the two vehicles collided near mile marker 97, causing Bean’s car to enter the air, flip, hit a tree cutting it in half and then hitting another tree then landing upside down. Emergency workers attempting to resuce Ms. Bean used the Jaws of Life, however, she had died before they were able to get her out.
Booth’s car also flipped, however, he sustained only minor injuries and refused transport to the hospital.
We offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Bean as they mourn her very tragic and senseless loss.
