According to an article on savannahnow.com, an Effingham deputy from the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office suffered injuries after his vehicle and a semi-truck attempting to turn left on Ebenezer Road collided at around 1:00 a.m. Friday morning. He was heading north on Ga 21 at the time.
A spokesperson from the Sheriff’s Office reported that the deputy received treatment for non-life threatening injuries and was released. The spokesperson also stated that the patrol car was damaged quite extensively and that the seatbelt the deputy was wearing probably saved his life. The driver of the truck was not injured in the wreck.
The incident is under investigation.
