As reported by the Savannah Morning News on savannahnow.com, a 78-year-old woman was hit by a white Honda Civic while crossing Wallin Street near 39th Street. She was carrying packages from a nearby shopping center. The woman was transported to Memorial University Medical Center with “potentially life-threatening” injuries according to Metro police.
The driver stopped after hitting the woman and is being questioned by investigators.
At this point it is too early to determine what may have contributed to this unfortunate accident. Some questions we would have are: Was the driver distracted in any way? What speed was the driver estimated to be going? What color clothes was the pedestrian wearing? What was the lighting like at the intersection? Was their any mechanical problems with the Honda Civic?
Regardless of the answers, we are wishing the woman full recovery.
