The employer is required to maintain what is called a posted panel of physicians. The posted panel also known as a list of doctors, should be conspicuously posted where you can see it and obtain information you need to seek medical treatment if you are hurt on the job.
It is important to know that just because this panel is posted does NOT mean you do not need to notify your boss/supervisor/employer, notice to the employer is an important part of any Georgia workers’ compensation claim. If you fail to report your injury to your boss/supervisor/employer you can be denied medical care and income benefits as it relates to your work injury.
There are many different types of posted panels however the minimum amount of medical providers on any given panel is six. There are several laws which make up what is a legally valid posted panel of physicians which is beyond the scope of this post.
Be informed. Be aware. Be prepared.
