The Georgia legislature has provided that workers’ compensation is an “exclusive remedy” for injured workers. So if you are injured on the job, you must bring a claim in workers’ compensation if you bring a claim at all. If the employer is required to maintain workers’ compensation insurance coverage, then they will be subject to criminal penalties and fines for not maintaining their insurance coverage.
