In Georgia, you are not entitled to weekly benefit checks until an authorized treating physician takes you out of work for more than seven (7) days. If you continuously taken out of work for more than 21 days in a row you will be paid for the first 7 days. Most injuries are minor in nature and the employee is never taken out of work for first seven days and the claim is known as a “medical only” claim.
If you are taken out of work for more than seven (7) days and have not received any income benefit checks you should contact a Georgia workers’ compensation attorney immediately.
Be informed. Be aware. Be prepared.
