Our video topic for today is can I go to the hospital if I have an open workers’ compensation claim?
The short answer is it’s always recommended that you return to what is considered your authorized treating physician, that would be the main doctor that’s treating you in your workers’ compensation claim.
If, however, you’re in a great deal of pain and it’s considered an emergency, say on the weekend when the doctor’s office is not open and can’t see you, or if there’s a long break between when you can get in to see the doctor, you may need to go to the emergency room. You want to attempt to try to schedule an appointment with the doctor’s office first; however, if you can’t get in there and you need emergency care, you do need to get the medical treatment you need and so you would be encouraged to go to the emergency room.
That said, you don’t wanna repeatedly go to the emergency room; you do want to get back to the doctor and schedule an appointment. If you can’t get in there timely, you wanna see if you can move up the appointment. You may wanna consider speaking with, a Savannah, Georgia workers’ compensation attorney to find out what your rights may be to change physicians if it’s a situation where you just can’t get into the doctor timely.
