Atlanta Food Poisoning Lawyer | More than 100 Sick from Catered Food at Georgia Aquarium

More than 100 people who had eaten food at separate catered events this summer at the Georgia Aquarium have gotten sick according to an article on wsbtv.com.

People who attended three different events held the week of July 24 at the aquarium started becoming ill with bouts of diarrhea one or two weeks later.

The illnesses are being investigated by the Georgia Division of Epidemiology, but a reporter from Channel 2 was told that Cyclospora was the cause of the illnesses. Cyclospora cayetanensis is a parasite that can cause the intestinal illness Cyclosporiasis according to the CDC.

The outbreak cause has not yet been identified, however, common foods that were served at the various events were salad mix, fresh basil and cherry tomatoes.
