According WSBTV.com, a 16-year-old Temple High School varsity and JV football player says that his football coach sent him back into a game after he suffered a head injury.
The young man, Isaiah Strozier, told a Channel 2 reporter that his coach put a bandage on him after his helmet came off and his head collided with his helmet during an away game on September 8. Strozier also said that he didn't feel well by the time he returned back to Temple HS and that people told that his eyes were crossing.
His mother, who was waiting for him at the school, took him to the emergency room, where tests showed that he suffered a concussion. Per Strozier's mother, doctors said that the young man should not have returned to the game after he hit his head and that it was unclear whether his condition was made worse by being tackled after his initial injury.
Strozier's mother is looking to have policies changed regarding handling players with head injuries and notification of parents regarding injuries.
