Construction Worker Killed Last Friday Identified

According to an article in the Savannah Morning News on savannahnow.com, a construction worker killed last Friday in an accident while building a tugboat dock on the Savannah River, was identified as 52-year-old Greg Royer.
 
Gena Moore, metro police spokeswoman, with the Savannah-Chatham Police Department stated Royer was standing on a sea wall when a pylon fell from an excavator and struck him.

John Pugh, 50, was also injured by the pylon, and is in critical condition at Memorial University Medical Center.

Both men were employed by Myrick Marine.

The incident is being investigated by the U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration.

There are potentially several different areas of law involved, for example this could be related to the Longshoreman's Act, the Jones Act or potentially one or the other with there possibly being a Federal or Georgia state workers compensation claim.

The investigation is ongoing and clearly with O.H.S.A. on it the facts will be documented.
