Georgia Company Recalls Ready-to-Eat Chicken Products

As announced yesterday by the US Dept. of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), a Lawrenceville, Georgia company, Flying Food Group, LLC, is recalling approximately 204 lbs. of ready-to-eat chicken plates and wraps because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The products being recalled include 8.4-ounce packages of "Starbucks Chipotle Chicken Wraps Bistro Box" and 6.3-ouce packages of "Starbucks Chicken and Hummus Bistro Box."

The products contain the words "Enjoy by 071511" on the bottom left corner and have the number P-34373 inside the USDA inspection mark. The chicken products were produced on July 13 and were distributed to coffee shop locations in Georgia and Alabama.

Foods contaminated by Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis if consumed. The disease is uncommon but can be fatal. Listeriosis can cause fever, headache, stiff neck, as well as nausea and can cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women and sometimes fatal infections in people who have a weakened immune systems (infants, the elderly, and people with HIV or those undergoing chemotherapy).
