Georgia Food Poisoning Lawyer | Beef Patties Recalled Due to E. coli

According to a press release from the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), Washington-based Sysco Seattle inc., has recalled roughly 16,800 pounds of ground beef patties because the meat could be contaminated with E. Coli O157:H7.

The meat in question was imported from Canada. Products that are subject to recall are:
Prime Rib Beef Patties 8 oz. - 10 pound boxes
Prime Rib Beef Patties 71 g - 10 pound boxes

The Canadian meat was produced by New Food Classics of Burlington, Ontario. They were imported by Sysco Seattle Inc. to be distributed in TX, AZ, CO, and WA.

E.coli O157:H7 can be deadly if ingested and may cause bloddy diarrhea, dehydration and kidney failure. People with weak immune systems, such as the aged, young children, and those with chronic diseases are more susceptible to food-related illnesses.

FSIS states all consumers should only consume ground beef that has been cooked to an inernal temperature of 160 degrees F and to validate temperatures by using a termometer that measures internal temperatures of food. This is the only way to be sure that ground beef has been cooked to a high enough temperature in order to kill dangerous bacteria.

For additional information about the recall, reference the FSIS press release. Consumers may contact Susan Linn at 832-489-1799.
