According to an FDA Firm Press Release, Georgia company, American Egg Products has recalled 5-pound cartons of their frozen egg product due to the possibility that they could be contaminated with
Salmonella. The Lot # is 272-1.
The frozen egg product had been distributed to Georgia and Florida and were purchased by three distributors/manufacturers.
No reports of illness have been made in regard to the recalled product. The recall resulted from a sampling of the product revealing the product contained Salmonella.
Anyone who purchased the American Egg Products Frozen Egg Product Lot #272-1 should return it to the the point of purchase for a refund. Any questions regarding the recall should be directed to American Egg Products at 912-449-5700.
Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes deadly infections in the very young or old, and in people with weak immune systems. Symptoms of infection can include fever, diarrhea (possibly bloody), nausea and vomiting, as well as abdominal pain.
