Tyson Fresh Meats, an Emporia Kansas company, has recalled an estimated 131,300 pounds of ground beef products that are possibly contaminated with E. coli O157:H7 according the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Services (
FSIS).

FSIS strongly encourages consumers to check their freezers and discard any products that have been recalled.
FSIS was advised by the Ohio Department of Health of illnesses caused by E. coli 0157:H7 in Butler County, OH. The illnesses occurred between September 8 - September 11, 2011.
E. coli O157:H7 can cause diarrhea that can be bloody, resulting dehydration, and in very severe cases, kidney failure. People with weakened immune systems are at greatest risk of contracting foodborne illnesses.
