A Michigan-based company, McNees Meats and Wholesale LLC, is recalling ground beef products due to possible contamination with
E. coli O157:H7. The recall was announced by the US Dept. of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Services (FSIS).
E. coli or Escherichia coli is a dangerous bacterium which can be deadly. It can cause bloody diarrhea, dehydration and, in very severe cases, kidney failure. Young children, the eldery, and people with weakended immune systems are at highest risk for foodborne illnesses.
