A teenager who was a passenger in a car died Friday after sustaining injuries from a crash which occurred on an icy road in Marietta.
According to an article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on ajc.com, Alexandra Covett, 17, of Acworth lost control of her Mitsubishi Eclipse on a patch of ice on Stilesboro Road in Marietta and hit a 2007 Hyundai Sonata driven by Courtney Ferguson, 30, also of Acworth said Joe Hernandez, a Cobb County police spokesperson.
18-year-old Karli Jobling, of Kennesaw, a passenger in Covett's car, was seriously injured in the accident and passed away later at a nearby hospital according to Hernandez. Neither Ferguson nor Covett suffered serious injuries.
What is unclear is if the speed in combination of the icy roads were the factors. At this time investigators are still looking for anyone who may have additional information on this claim. If you have any information please contact the Cobb County Police Department.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all involved in this terrible accident.
