It was reported by the Savannah Morning News on
savannahnow.com that at about 2:15p.m. on Sunday, Brian Timothy Gerrald, 22, of Pooler, was killed in a motorcycle accident at the intersection of S.H. Morgan Parkway and Pooler Parkway. According to a Pooler Police Department report, a witness saw Gerrald speeding off from the light, losing control of the motorcycle, then overturning and striking a guard rail.
What is unclear is if there was mechanical error which caused or contributed to the crash or if this matter was caused by inexperience driving or anything distracted the motorcycle driver.
Gerrald was dead on the scene according to police. The accident was witnessed by Gerrald's fiancé who was in the vehicle behind him.
Police Chief Mark Revenue said that Gerrald's roommate, owner of the motorcycle, told police that she tried to prevent Gerrald from riding the bike since he didn't have any experience riding a motorcycle or a motorcycle license. He was wearing a helmet when he crashed.
The family and friends of Mr. Gerrald are in our thoughts and prayers.
