It was reported by the Savannah Morning News in savannahnow.com that a 62-year-old man identified as William Sanderson was seriously injured when the scooter he was riding collided with a sports utility vehicle.Sgt. Shawn Myers of the Garden City Police reported that witnesses saw the man riding erratically on Ga. 21 at about 5:15 p.m. when his scooter crossed over two lanes of the highway and struck the SUV near Groves High School.
Sanderson was found lying in the road unconscious and by Saturday he was awake but not coherent according to Myers.
Charges are pending after a blood sample was taken for testing at the GBI crime lab. It is not clear if the man operating the scooter was in a cross walk while operating his motor scooter.
