As reported by WSBTV.com, Tony Kuykendall, a Smyrna father of four, was hit and killed while walking with his 14-year-old son along Old Concord Road in Smyrna. The vehicle that struck Kuykendall fled the scene.
Kuykendall's son, Oscar Ortiz, told Channel 2 Action News reporter, George Howell, that his father was hit from behind. Ortiz called 911, and Kuykendall died at Kennestone Hospital.
Michael Smith of the Smyrna Police Department said that they are trying to locate the vehicle that hit Kuykendall and that they are looking to the public for help, as they have "just a handful of witnesses." They are looking for either a black or maroon car at this time.
The family has set up a fund in Tony Kuykendall's name. He was currently unemployed and did not have insurance. Donations can be made at any Bank of America.
Our firm's thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr. Kuykendall during this very sad time.
