Wrong-way Driver Dies in Fiery Crash on I-285

As reported by wsbtv.com, a wrong-way driver was killed early Tuesday morning after his car crashed into a tractor trailer and burst into flames.

The incident happened on I-285 between Ashford-Dunwoody and Chamblee-Dunwoody roads. All eastbound lanes were closed for several hours after the crash.

The truck driver was not injured.

It is unclear why the driver was travelling the wrong way on I-285, the investigation is on-going.  Regardless of the circumstances this appears to have been a preventable death.  Our thoughts are with the young driver.  These unfortunate matters often bring more questions than answers.
