
A: Yes. You are entitled to benefits if you are taken completely off of work.
If an approved doctor takes you off of work, you are entitled to weekly benefit checks if you meet certain criteria. Keep in mind that you can only receive benefits if you are taken off of work for seven days or more, and have worked for at least 13 weeks prior to your injury.
The rate of your benefits is determined by taking the average of the 13 weeks of pay you received prior to your injury to determine your average weekly wage. Your comp rate is determined by calculating two-thirds of your average weekly wage. You then receive benefits at this rate, as long as it does not exceed $500. The maximum comp rate you can receive per week is $500.
Although you are not initially compensated for those first seven days you are off work, if you are taken off of work for at least 21 consecutive days, you will eventually be paid for the first seven days you missed.
