A: You are not required to have a nurse case manager work on your case in most cases.
If you are hurt on the job and pursue a workers compensation claim, you will have to deal with your employer's insurance company. Of course, hiring an experienced workers compensation attorney will greatly help with that. One of the things a good attorney will do is decide whether or not you should terminate your nurse case manager from your case.
A nurse case manager is frequently assigned to work on a workers' compensation claim. He or she can be helpful sometimes. Your nurse case manager can help you understand the type of medical procedure you will undergo, can coordinate medical appointments and transportation, and can help make sure your doctor has all of the results of any diagnostic testing he or she needs to review. However, if your nurse case manager begins to interfere with your treatment, or tries to send you back to work when your doctor has not released you, then your lawyer will want to remove that person from your case.
