A: The most important thing to do if you are in a car wreck is to simply get checked out by a doctor if you are hurt. Our office gets numerous calls from people who were hurt in a car wreck and thought they would be fine. Because they thought they would be fine they held off on getting treatment, because they had to get back to work, take the kids out of town or whatever they did other than get medical treatment. They are floored when I tell them we will not take on their claim because they are calling us two weeks after a claim with no medical treatment. We explain that if your case was forced to a jury trial it is hard to explain to a jury that you were not injured doing something around the house whether it was taking out the garbage or carrying in groceries. The most important thing is documentation from a medical doctor that you have been hurt and the medical reason is because you were involved in a car wreck.
