A wet road caused a vehicle to hydroplane on Monday afternoon in Clarke County killing two women.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Athens-Clarke County police, a vehicle driven by Angela Ellington, 48, from Maysville, hydroplaned around a curve on Commerce Road and hit another vehicle driven by Haley Dodd, 19, of Commerce after crossing into oncoming traffic. Ellington and her front-seat passenger, Priscilla Mathis, 57, from Commerce were pronounced dead at the scene.
A backseat passenger of Ellington's, Sandra Baggett, 26, and Dodd were transported to an area hospital. Their injuries were reported to be non-life threatening.
Our prayers are with the family and friends of Ms. Ellington and Ms. Mathis after their tragic loss and also with the others who suffered injuries and who were involved in the incident.
