As per an article on cbsatlanta.com, a 3-year-old child was killed after being hit by a car in DeKalb County.
According to the article, the girl, Kelseyana Thrower, and her grandmother who was in a motorized wheelchair were both hit on Covington Highway after they had been grocery shopping. The grandmother was transported to an Atlanta hospital with serious injuries.
According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) data, in 2009, approximately 59,000 pedestrians were injured; 13,000 of those injured were under the age of 14, and 4,092 pedestrians died in traffic crashes.
