According to an article in the Rockdale Citizen on rockdalecitizen.com, Alex Fowlin, a 10-year old boy that was seriously injured in a car accident that occurred while his father allegedly tried to evade police remains in critical condition on life support. The boy's 75-year-old grandfather and father of the driver, Richard Alophus Fowlin, was killed in the wreck.
The car was driven by Andrew Fowlin, 39, of Conyers. Investigators say that Andrew Fowlin was pulled over by police around 10:15 p.m. last Saturday in a road check on Sigman Road. After police asked the suspect to pull to the side of the road, Andrew Fowlin turned off his lights and took off in the vehicle at a very fast speed.
Police deputies went after the vehicle, a 2003 Jaguar, but could not catch up. Instead, they found the vehicle crashed in a concrete culvert on Gees Mills Road.
Andrew Fowlin allegedly took off on foot from the scene but was captured just a short time later. The boy and his grandfather were trapped in the vehicle, however. Alex Fowlin was airlifted to the hospital, and Richard Fowlin was pronounced dead at the scene.
Andrew Fowlin remains in the Rockdale Jail on $17,000 bond for misdemeanor charges against him, but no bond has yet been set for any felony charges. He is charged with first degree vehicular homicide, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, driving without a license, fleeing and attempting to elude, among other charges.
This firm's prayers go out to the family of Alex and Richard Fowlin. We pray for Alex's full recovery from this horrible incident.
