A 10 year-old Hilton Head Island girl was injured after a pit bull bit her in the face.
According to an artical in the Island Packet on islandpacket.com, the girl was with some friends talking on Tabby Trail when she noticed the dog with its owner and the owner's son. The girl then threw her arms open as if to hug the dog. The dog then lunged and bit the girl in the face. It is not clear whether the dog was on a leash.
The dog tore a 2 x 3-inch piece of skin from beneath the girl's jawline.
The dog's owner told police that she never had any problems with the pit bull mix. The animal will be quarantined for 10 days per the sheriff's office.
