The proceeds from a fundraiser being held at the Redneck Gourmet in Newnan on Thursday will benefit a mom and her son who were both seriously injured in a head-on wreck on Sunday, August 7.
According to the Times-Herald.com, Jarius Rhodes had just picked up his mom, Shanda Rhodes, from work a little after midnight when they were involved in the head-on collision.
Twenty-year-old Jarius remains at Grady in critical condition and Shanda Rhodes has been released but remains in severe pain according to Times-Herald.com.
Jarius was to head off to Shorter College two weeks after the accident, where he had been awarded a baseball scholarship.
The event organizers, Jeremy and Anna Brown, ask that the public bring their family and their friends to the event on Thursday to support the family.
Additionally, there is an account set up at Wells Fargo Bank. To donate, make checks payable to "Rhodes Family Medical Fund" and bring them to the bank.
Our prayers go out to both Jarius and Shanda Rhodes and to their family and friends during this difficult time of recovery.
