According to an article in the Island Packet on islandpacket.com, a Hilton Head Island teen died after a wreck on I-95 in Georgia on Thursday afternoon.
The teen, Estefany Adriana Arce-Castro, 18, was ejected from a 2003 Ford Expedition that was driven by her mother, Karla Castro-Salazar. Per the Georgia State Patrol, the SUV's left rear tire blew, which caused Castro-Salazar to lose control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn several times. Adriana was not wearing a seat belt. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Adriana's sister, Yariela Arce-Castro, 19, also sustained injuries, however, not serious according to the article. Two other adult passengers were transported to an area hospital due to injuries to their arms and legs. Their condition is not known at this time. Castro-Salazar, a 40-year-old male passenger, and a 7-year-old girl passenger were not injured in the accident.
Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of Adriana as they mourn her loss after this tragic accident. We hope that Yariela and the others who were injured make full and quick recoveries.
