Gwinnett Students in Bus Crash

As reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on ajc.com, a crash involving a Harmon Brothers Tour bus carrying 47 Gwinnett County high school students collided with a vehicle on 1-75. One person aboard the bus was airlifted to a Macon hospital, and 19 others were taken to hospitals near Dooly County where the crash occurred, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Gordy Wright, Spokeswoman for the State Patrol said that there were 52 people on the bus from Mill Creek High School in Buford. Forty-seven were students.
Wright said that the crash, which occurred at mile post 116, happened when the northbound lanes slowed and a rear-end collision occurred ahead of the bus, pushing a vehicle into the path of the northbound bus and causing the bus to go up an embankment and strike an overpass.
According to Wright, the person airlifted to the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon was in stable condition, and AJC was informed that the patient "was up and walking." The other 19 were taken to nearby hospitals as a precaution.
The collision occurred in an area where three lanes converged into two in a construction zone according to 13WMAZ, a Gwinnett TV news station in central Georgia.
