An 11-year-old boy was hit by a car this morning when he stepped into the street as his school bus was arriving.
The boy was transported by air to Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta-Egelston in critical condition where he later died.
Per the Henry County Sherriff's Office, the incident took place at Locust Grove Griffin Road and Tanger Boulevard as the boy stepped into the street and was hit by a car. The bus' lights were on according to the police.
As noted in the story on wsbtv.com, the father of the boy is a Henry County police officer.
The incident is under investigation.
