As reported by the Savannah Morning News on savannahnow.com, a collision near the intersection of Midland and Courthouse roads killed 18-year-old Joshua Stafford, of Guyton, a senior at Effingham County High School.
A black Honda Civic heading north on Midland crossed the center line, striking a white Acura that was traveling southbound said David Ehsanipoor, the Effingham Sheriff's spokesman. He also confirmed that Stafford, who was a passenger in the black vehicle, is the son of an Effingham County sheriff's deputy. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wade Hall, 18, of Guyton, the driver of the Honda, was airlifted to Memorial University Medical Center with serious injuries. Both victims had to be extricated from the vehicle, and it appeared that they were not wearing seat belts.
Early reports indicate that Hall was traveling north on Midland Road when his car crossed into the path of a white 2006 Acura driven by Rebecca Hart, 27, of Guyton who had three small children in her vehicle. They were taken to area hospitals with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening. They all appeared to be wearing their seat belts.
Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash. It was unknown if alcohol was a factor.
Our prayers are with the family and friends of Joshua Stafford as well as those injured in this terrible accident.
