It was reported by the Savannah Morning News on savannahnow.com that the driver of a pickup truck, identified as 59-year-old, Freddie Stephens, was killed after colliding with a dump truck on Tuesday, according to Savannah-Chatham Police.
A spokesperson from Metro Police stated that Stephens was traveling west on Fort Argyle Road when he attempted a left-hand turn onto Old Shed Road when his truck was hit on the passenger side by an oncoming dump truck. Stephens was pronounced dead at the scene. The dump truck driver had only minor injuries.
What is unclear at this time if this was a matter where Mr. Stephens failed to yield the right of way, or if the dump truck was travelling too fast to stop. Chatham County Police are still investigating and if you have any information you are encouraged to contact them.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of Mr. Stephens.
