As reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on ajc.com, a woman was killed after a Georgia Department of Transportation mower hit a large rock and caused it to fly through the windshield of a car, hitting her in the back seat where she was a passenger.
The woman was identified as Annie Lee, 58, of LaGrange.
The incident happened in Troup County on US 27. The car was traveling behind a Bush Hog mower operated by the Georgia DOT. According to a Troup County Sheriff, the rock grazed the front passenger across the lips before striking Lee in the back seat and killing her instantly.
A similar incident occurred in Troup County several years ago when a prisoner on work detail was hit by a rock also thrown by a mower according to the Troup County Coroner.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Ms. Lee after this tragic loss.
