Retail Distribution List for Recall 060-2011 (Ground Turkey)
The massive recall of 36 million pounds of ground turkey have been recalled by the Arkansas company, Cargill Meat Solutions Corporation due to possible Salmonella contamination according to the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
Foods contaminated with Salmonella may cause salmonellosis if consumed. The infection can be deadly, especially in those people with compromised immune systems (infants, the elderly, people with HIV or those undergoing chemotherapy). Symptoms can include diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever within 6-72 hours. Other symptoms of chills, headache, nausea, and vomiting can occur and last up to seven days.
