According to Savannahnow.com, a Savannah-Chatham police officer was hit by a car on Thursday afternoon.
The officer, Michael Swords, was assisting in pushing a car from a wreck at Hampton and Habersham Streets around 4:00 p.m. when his leg was run over by a car that was turning onto Habersham.
Swords was transported to a local hospital to treat his injury, but a police spokesman said that his leg wasn't broken.
Police are looking for the person who hit Swords. Swords didn't see the car because his view was impeded by traffic. Police do suspect that other drivers witnessed the incident and are requesting anyone with information call Crimestoppers at 912-234-2020 or send a text to CRIMES (274637). Include "CStop2020" and the tip in the body of the text. Anyone providing a tip will remain anonymous.
