An accident on Highway 144 in Tattnall County took the lives of five and critically injured a child according to the Coastal Courier on coastalcourier.com.
The wreck, which occurred on Thursday at approximately 4:00 p.m. near Glennville happened when a man driving an Isuzu Trooper with one passenger crossed into the path of a woman driving in a Chevy pickup with three of her grandchildren on board. According to police, the woman attempted to evade the collision, however, the Isuzu veered back into the path of the pickup. The vehicles then collided head-on.
The Isuzu's driver died, and the passenger was taken by air to a local hospital where he later died. The woman driving the pickup truck, an 8-year-old child, and a 4-year-old were also killed in the accident. One child, who is 10 or 12 years old, was trasported to an area hospital and was in critical condition.
According to the article, the two men driving in the Isuzu were residents of Glynn County, the woman was from Tattnall County and the children are all from McIntosh County.
